I’m really excited to see these technicolor conjurers and super positive dudes on tour, since I always seem to miss them. Black Moth Super Rainbow will be super zipping through the lower 48 this spring to promote a new jam hive called Eating Us, out on May 26. And the tour kicks off here in Kentucky on May 19!

The aforementioned Lexington show is sponsored by my college radio alma mater WRFL, who have been booking some real kick-ass shows lately (going to see Ariel Pink tomorrow night, actually). Gotta step up your game, Louisville, unless you’re too depressed about last week’s loss to Michigan State or somethin’.

I saw them play Boston almost a year ago. It was simply amazing. I remember being shocked at how plain they looked. They weren’t a bunch a crazy neo-hippies like I was expecting. I’m sad they’re not coming back. I would love to see them again. Maybe Tobacco will do a solo tour soon. That would be so awesome.

I’m really looking forward to it. I’m a sucker for good visuals, and from the photos I’ve seen, it’s looks like a rather kaleidoscopic experience.

Bummer it’s gonna be at The Red Mile. Super cool space but I’ve never heard a more horrible show sound-wise than the Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise show in the Round Barn. Such a waste. I can’t see myself ever going to another show there.

tobacco toured late last year opening up for why?
i doubt that he will be doing any solo tour stuff anytime soon.
he was a lot of fun to watch live.
but it would be great if he did!
has any got any download links for any of the new tracks?

I was asked to remove the songs, so it looks like we’ll have to wait to hear the new stuff. The Tobacco album will hold me over just fine, fortunately.

Too bad to hear about the Red Mile. Does it at least have a stage? Ariel Pink at Al’s Bar last night was a blast, and they had Chuck Moreland running sound so it was a lot better than usual. But I hate that they don’t have a stage. At least Lex is getting all-ages shows either way, though.

No stage at the Round Barn, not at all. And it’s like 3 stories high with the band on the lower level of course. By the time the sounds gets to your ears it’s so dead.

Check out some flickr pics from the E6 show; you can get a feel for the layout of the building pretty easily.

I can deal with Al’s not having a stage but I won’t go if I think it’s going to get crowded in there; I’m too old for that discomfort. Unless it’s someone super awesome.
