Skull Alley to Close Its Doors in 2011

The beloved East Broadway music and art space, Skull Alley, announced today that they will be closing their doors for the final time on December 31st. Not only did Skull Alley boast an eclectic calendar, it served as one of the city’s only established all-ages, DIY-style venues (one we welcomed Marmoset and Invaders to in September 2009). While there were undoubtedly a variety of reasons the owners’ made this difficult decision, the loss of a business that, in just over two years, became so highly respected should underline the importance of always supporting your local music scene. You can never take these types of places or people for granted.
I’m sure there will be a proper press release with all the details, but in the interim, you can get the skinny on their final New Years Eve show at Louisville Hardcore. We all owe a truly monumental “thank you” to Jamie Prott for putting his all into keeping a cool, welcoming music club open with generosity and integrity. The city’s music community is better for it. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.
