I’ve got a lot going on this week, so look out. I’m currently working on two different interviews, as well as a relatively in-depth essay on the use of non-commercial broadcast in music. I have a special surprise to unleash this weekend to celebrate the “Holy Shit! My Bloody Valentine is only a month away” event. I also have an advance of the Verve album and will probably post a couple of the songs that don’t bum me out. For funs, I found this really nerdy seven freakin’ page (single space) analysis I wrote about Boards of Canada’s Geogaddi album when I was 18. In my defense, I was on adderall when I wrote it. I’m usually not that intense. So, good stuff comin’ up on The Decibel Tolls just in time for fall sweeps.
Also of note, next week is my birthday. Thursday, specifically. It’s gonna be ballin’ outta control.

I’ll be 24 years of age. Old man – but not old enough to get a discount on car rental yet. So yeah, I’ll probably be going down to Louisville to hang tough with my comrades and possibly get loaded. There are two things on my birthday wish list. The first (and more tangible) want is the Boss SP-303 Sampler. Though the SP-404 is the newer and more feature-laden model, the 303 is pretty much all I need. Clouddead’s Ten and Panda Bear’s Person Pitch were both almost entirely produced with this little machine. This is music geek smut:

Shit’s tight. This sampler coupled with my Digitech RP-150 Guitar Multi-Effects Processor will create an unstoppable force that could crush various sovereign nations and sew up distant wormholes.
And the second want… I would like some love for the Decibel Tolls. I’ve received many nice letters and contacts from various readers. However, the blogosphere seemingly hates me. It could be because I make fun of a lot of music blogs and insult most of the bands that bloggers get raging boners for. Beats me. And that’s fine, ya know. I don’t mind being the outcast. However, I do feel that the Decibel Tolls deserves to be on Hype Machine. And I want that for my birthday. I do. I want it. Despite being young, I feel this blog has offered a lot of cool, and many exclusive, MP3s, is pretty on top of news, is updated daily, has a very defined and genre-specific focus, is designed to be user-friendly, advocates for supporting artists, and has some unique music analyses written to inform and amuse.
So, if you want to show some love for my birthday, you can do one of two things. Or both. But one is fine, too:
1) Donate some money so I can grip that Boss.
2) Or, more simply, go here and tell HypeM that you want your Decibel Tolls up on that muh’fuckr.
