Rolled up to Lovejoy’s to catch up with the Floating Boiz just in time for Wise Blood, who released one of last year’s finest EPs, +. Chris was cool as shit, passing along a tape of an unreleased track called “I’m Losing My Mind,” which I will share will y’all as soon as I figure out a good way to record from cassette to mp3 with the gear I have. Wise Blood as a live entity was quite surprising. While Wise Blood bolsters a weirdo collagist type vibe a la People Like Us and Negativland, the live band is a straightforward, albeit skewed, hip-hop act. It caught me wholly off guard, so I feel I should catch them again before publishing any additional thoughts on their live show. The band’s energy, however, cannot be denied.
