It would take a pretty awesome album cover to get its own post. And the album cover for the forthcoming Animal Collective album Merriweather Post Pavilion gets that honor.

The Magic Eye company spent years releasing optical illusion picture books that didn’t fuckin’ work! And it only took AC one try to get the wavy surrealism tip right. Man, this rules. I can’t stop staring at it. I’m trying to get my reviews of Religious Knives and Hush Arbors written today, but all I can do is stare at this thing. You guys enjoying this? I’m enjoying this.

Man… that’s kwaa-zeee! I wonder if it glows under blacklight as well?

Animal Collective – Daily Routine (Live at Pitchfork)

Like me with this site’s design and layout, Deerhunter likes to tweak and change and constantly alter the forthcoming Microcastle/Weird Era Cont cover. The original, found here, will still be displayed on the domestic Kranky vinyl release, though. There’s also this one floating around that appears as the proper art via iTunes. So… what do you think?

I think it’s awesome – it’s like Belle and Sebastian gone metal. And as you might note on my FaCeBoOk, “skulls” are one of my many refined interests, so obviously I support all album covers that prominently feature skulls and various dome relics.

M/WEC is out everywhere in all formats, and wants to be in your library, on October 28, thanks to Kranky in the U.S. and 4AD in the UK.
