Merci beaucoup. This blog is supposed to be really different than most, so I’m glad you feel my year-end list fits that mold. So many blogs jump on “buzz” bands, and there’s a lot of great artists that get overlooked because they’re not the Hold Steady or whatever. Plus, this list and blog are certainly genre-specific, which will generate different results from most. Heard good things about P&L from blogs I like, but have yet to explore them myself.

“Recherche panache”? Quelle bon mots! I do agree with your umbrage over “the idea that an album is either pop or experimental,” and your list is unique among the many I’ve been browsing. There’s just too much goddamn new music. Right now I’m digging the Parts & Labor album and “Win Us Over” by ASG. Tomorrow it may be something else.

Stanks, mang. Tryin’ to keep it trill. It was cool seeing Indian Jewelry really early on. Inevasive Exotics is certainly worth czechin’ on if you like Free Gold, but it’s not as structured. Depends on your bag, ya know.
