The Decibel Tolls Presents Casino Vs. Japan and Nudge

casino web1 The Decibel Tolls Presents Casino Vs. Japan and Nudge

Casino Vs. Japan needs no overlong introduction. The ambient electronic artist has been lying low the past few years, playing one-offs every now and again with the likes of A Sunny Day in Glasgow and Atlas Sound. This year, Erik Kowalski comes back in a big way to show the kids how it’s done as he gets ready to drop new material for the first time in over 6 years. His magnum opus thus far, Whole Numbers Play the Basics on the flawless Carpark label, is often considered the American response to Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin, as well as the reference point for countless psychedelic electronic and IDM artists of the past decade. This is a rare appearance so don’t sleep on this! Fluid and slow burning Nudge is probably the finest unsung hero on Kranky, whose 2009 album As Good As Gone is revelatory. The experimental collective, featuring members of Jackie O Motherfucker and Valet, cultivates a gorgeous, sparse blend of post rock with loose pop structures in tandem with an enveloping visual experience live. Now is as good of time as any to pick your spirit animal.
