Unfortunately, my various social networking news feeds were too overloaded with wanky Charlie Sheen quotes for me to get hip to the fact that baroque sunny psych pop pioneers The Left Banke played their first show in… I don’t even know how long, last night at Joe’s Pub in Manhattan. I mean, I get so aggravated at all the shit I’m aware of that I don’t care about, and then the knowledge that The Left Banke is playing again slips through the cracks. C’mon guys! Jesus H! Anyway, as not all of us live in New York City, we can only hope this means additional touring opportunities. If you’ve been jamming on Caribou and have not dug deep in the crates to discover The Left Banke, you should be kicking yourself in the ass about now. But hey, no worries… those difficult-to-find late ’60s LPs will be getting the reissue treatment from Sundazed this year. Check their website for details, and maybe pick up some of those recently released Moby Grape and Blues Magoos reissues while you’re at it.
