I’m a little late on this one, but fucking hell, The Verve is dropping a new record in two weeks! Shit! I would run outside naked and do my happy prance, but it’s Orange Alert right now and I’m scared. The album is called Fourth, because as you know, psych rock and shoegaze dudes just can’t do any better these days (Darker My Love’s new album is 2, Dungen’s forthcoming is called 4, and the next Brian Jonestown record will be Dos Equis). Regardless of the moniker, this dystopian world we live in, in which dongcore bands like the Ting Tings are just tres awesome, needs a group like the Verve to be resurrected a la the Phoenix to plow some motherfuckers over with Twin Reverb Combos. I do have to say that this new song is fairly… meh, at least compared to stuff from their first two majestic records (A Storm in Heaven and A Northern Soul), but hey, good to have you back, Richard & Friends!
